What will happen if i dont pay a school bus citation ticket in richmond virginia?
This citation was issued on 4/13/18 the day of the offense is 7/20/17 almost a year later its a 4 lane street with dividers so i understood that i did not have to stop because i know its against the law to send kids across a 3 lane street and i was on the opposite side.If i did something wrong its ok and i would never do anything to hurt a child since i have 2 and one of my daughtesr i lost a year ago,but when i called the number on the letter that they sent; I question them why they are just sending this letter almost a year later when they have 10 days to send it out,she stated that they had sent one out and that is not true because this mail goes to my mothers house and this is the first letter they sent. They stated that they would send me a copy of the first letter but i told them how can they prove to me that the letter copy they are sending is not something they are typing up today and putting what ever date on it.then i was told they was suppose to add the pictures with the letter and they did not add that either.Any advice would be appreciated.Thank you
You will get nowhere arguing whether a letter was sent last year. If they never sent any photographs for you to review ask for a hearing. Speak to a local criminal defense attorney to see if it is worth risking a six demerit conviction or whether you can keep as a non point infraction by reviewing the photograph/film. Some police departments appear in court and have the actual footage of vehicles going trough the red light and where vehicles were in relation to their view of the school bus lights.
